Savoring the Spirit of Friendship: A Toast to Whiskey Enthusiasts

Savoring The Macallan in a cocktail doesn’t need an air of exclusivity.

As the crisp air ushers in fall across New England, there’s a palpable shift not just in the weather but in our social gatherings. This is the time when the vibrant, amber hues of whiskey take center stage, transforming every sip into a warm embrace against the autumn chill. But this week, we aren’t talking about just any whiskey; we are talking about The Macallan—a name that resonates with depth, heritage, and an unparalleled smoothness beloved by whiskey aficionados the world over.

This week, we were joined on the Cocktails With Friends Podcast by Evan Baugh, The Macallan’s New England representative.

Evan shared with us that The Macallan isn’t merely appreciated for its rich, layered complexity or its storied legacy that spans centuries; it’s revered for its ability to bring people together, crafting moments and memories from the simple act of sharing a drink.

Given that, we decided that this fall, we’re veering away from the traditional, neat pours that have long-defined whiskey enjoyment. Instead, we are looking into the artistry of cocktail crafting, mixing this prestigious spirit with carefully chosen ingredients to create something truly extraordinary.

Enter – “aircraft cocktails,” a concept that elevates the cocktail experience to new heights. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill mixed drinks but high-quality, meticulously crafted concoctions that honor the essence of The Macallan while weaving in innovative flavors and techniques.

Each cocktail is a narrative in itself, telling tales of heritage, craftsmanship, and the rich tapestry of the land from which this whiskey hails. Aircraft cocktails are a testament to the distillery’s unwavering commitment to excellence, capturing the spirit’s soul in every glass.

Here is our favorite cocktail to make with The Macallan this season:

  • 2.25 oz. The Macallan 12-Year-Old Double Cask
  • .25 oz. Simple Syrup 1:1
  • Owl & Whale Cranberry Bitters

Mix all ingredients into a mixing tin and stir for 20 seconds, then strain into a rocks glass over a large cube.

What sets The Macallan and the Old Fashioned we shared with you apart isn’t just their taste or the craftsmanship behind them; it’s the experiences they facilitate. These cocktails become a conduit for storytelling, laughter, and connection, reminding us that the art of enjoying whiskey transcends the drink itself—it’s about the shared moments and the bonds forged over each sip.

So, whether you’re a whiskey enthusiast or a cocktail aficionado, we invite you to join us on our Cocktails with Friends podcast, where we share insider tips, secret recipes, and engaging conversations with fellow enthusiasts of fine food and drink.

Cheers!
