Pineapple, Pints & Patio Swings: Summer Tees Off with OBC

If summer had a soundtrack, it’d start with the crack of a cold can and the faint whisper of “Chip has a pineapple fascination.”

That’s right, friends. In this week’s Cocktails with Friends, Bob Cutler pulled up a barstool with Abe Furth of Orono Brewing Company, a man who’s gone from the world’s least intimidating doorman to the Sultan of Seltzer. From his Woodman’s roots to slinging 13,000 barrels a year, Abe’s brewed more than beer—he’s stirred up a Maine-made empire of good vibes.  

Enter Wild Maine Pineapple Seltzer, born on the slopes of Sugarloaf and headed straight for the golf greens. It’s crisp, it’s crushable, and it stars Chip, a lovable golf ball with a hat, a hot dog, and a soul built for the 19th hole.

Abe and Bob reminisced about the classics (gimlets, bee’s knees, the tequila-amaretto mix-up trauma). Then they got jazzed about what’s next—margaritas on draft, seltzer variety packs, and whether Birdies will finally dethrone the mighty transfusion (spoiler: probably not, but dream big).
