Colds, and the Cocktails that Cure them

Coming in on the George Hale Ric Tyler show, once again Cocktails With Friends hits the FM Airwaves to raise your spirits straight through the radio. But where Bob usually shows up with a cold drink in hand, today he’s just showing up with a cold. Ringing in remotely, we take this time to reflect on the storied history of “medicinal whiskey”.

Insights soar on the inciting incidents instilling spirits as remedies to all sorts of sickness: how cocktails became cures in the times of Prohibition, and how that loophole has carried on to this day. It’s not without a kernel of truth, as many cocktails are rife with vitamin C, natural sugars, and ample hydration to give a boost of nutrition– of course, in strict moderation.

Afterwards, our hosts swap recipes for hot toddies, rum-and-cider twists, and variations on mulled wine, and other classic “cures” to enjoy during the fall season: listen in to hear the details of these delicious drinks!

Don’t forget, friends don’t let friends miss our weekly episodes of Cocktails with Friends. Check them out wherever you find your podcasts, and make sure you share the conversation.

Cheers!
