The Land, The Hand, and the Merry Band: Joe and Carmela of The Wine Pair Podcast

In this episode of Cocktails with Friends, Joe and Carmela Mele from The Wine Pair Podcast join us to peruse the other side of the bar, and wander through the wonderful world of wine! Bob admits he’s a little starstruck as he reveals that, when it comes to planning out the Bistro’s selections, he’s listened to many episodes of The Wine Pair for their recommendations.

Joe and Carmela started their podcast during the COVID-19 lockdown, and have found it a perfect outlet. It’s creative, it’s something they love, and it’s something that they love to do together. Unlike other wine reviewers, there’s no snobbery in what they say, and no patronizing in their program: Their mission statement is to help people find new and enjoyable wines and varieties, and all under $25 or less.

The three discuss another wine reviewer (and poke a little fun) and share their favorite wine importers. Bob and Joe gush about particular winemakers they consider celebrities, and consider the two ways a person can appreciate wine: either by appreciating the hand that made it, or appreciating the land that made it. Carmela talks about her favorite wine location, and Bob shares some of his own, as well.

The parting gift Joe and Carmela leave is a trade secret about the production of The Wine Pair, and they even talk about the two strategies behind this simple rule… but you’ll have to listen to the episode to learn that particular secret!

Don’t forget, friends don’t let friends miss our weekly episodes of Cocktails with Friends. Check them out wherever you find your podcasts, and make sure you share the conversation.

Cheers!
